The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, operated by Belmond and known for its luxurious 1920s carriages and high-end service, is launching a new route from Paris to Italy's Amalfi Coast starting May 4, 2026. This journey includes an overnight train trip to Pompeii with a stop to explore the ancient site, followed by a two-night stay at the prestigious Caruso hotel in Ravello, part of Belmond's portfolio. The train offers several cabin types ranging from classic Historic Twin Cabins to spacious Grand Suites with private marble bathrooms, blending classic Art Deco style with modern comforts. The route is part of the Villeggiatura by Train series, which pairs overnight rail journeys with multi-night hotel stays across Italy, including Venice, Florence, and Portofino. Tickets for the Paris to Amalfi Coast journey are priced at approximately £8,600 per person, covering all meals, transfers, and excursions, making it one of the most lavish and expensive train experiences available. This new addition enhances the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express's existing European routes, continuing its tradition of connecting romantic cities with luxury hospitality.
