Nine-Year-Old Girl Dies After Islip Assault

A nine-year-old girl was found dead at a property on Middle Street in Islip, Oxfordshire, after police were called at about 11:15am on Tuesday following reports that three children had been assaulted. Two other children — a boy and a girl — were taken to hospital and later discharged. A 49-year-old woman is in a life-threatening condition in hospital and is under police bed watch. Thames Valley Police said a post-mortem has been carried out but the cause of death remains unascertained; specially trained family liaison officers are supporting the girl's family, who have asked for privacy. Detective Inspector Amy Fox described the case as an "unimaginable tragedy," said officers are not currently seeking anyone else, and added they will remain in the area over the weekend while inquiries continue, urging anyone with information to contact police.
