San Antonio Man Killed; Suspect Arrested

A shooting occurred around 10:55–11 p.m. Sunday outside a West Side bar on Historic Old Highway 90 near Cesar Chavez, leaving a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was identified as 59-year-old Julio Cesar Martinez Padron; he was transported to University Hospital in critical condition and died the following day. Investigators say an argument inside the bar preceded the attack and allege a suspect retrieved a handgun from his vehicle, approached the victim’s car saying "I got you now," and fired multiple shots. Authorities identified and arrested 43-year-old Ramiro Espinoza Jr. after witnesses picked him in a photo lineup and police used surveillance footage and license-plate recognition to track his vehicle. Espinoza has been booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and charged with murder; the investigation remains ongoing.
