Oswego Man Dies in Montgomery Semi-Truck Crash

Jason Messick, an Oswego resident, was killed on Wednesday evening when his black Nissan sedan collided with a semi-truck at around 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive in Montgomery, Illinois. The semi-truck was northbound and attempting a left turn when Messick's southbound vehicle struck it, becoming pinned under the trailer; Messick was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency response included the Montgomery Police Department, Oswego Fire Department, Illinois State Police, and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, and the roadway was closed for several hours. An autopsy and toxicology testing are pending to determine the full cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing. Police Chief Phil Smith offered condolences to Messick's family and thanked responding agencies.
