Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Kirk Jones’ Tourette Syndrome Biopic I Swear for Global Release

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the rights to the film "I Swear," a true-life dramedy written and directed by BAFTA nominee Kirk Jones, for release across the U.S., Latin America, much of Eastern Europe, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Portugal, and South Korea. The film, which premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and opened successfully in the UK, tells the story of John Davidson, a Tourette's Syndrome campaigner diagnosed at age 15, portraying his struggles and advocacy through the 1980s and 90s. Robert Aramayo stars as Davidson, supported by Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, and Peter Mullan, with the production closely collaborating with the Tourette's community and charities to authentically represent the condition. "I Swear" has been praised for its emotional engagement, humor, and compelling storytelling, earning a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and debuting at number three at the UK box office.
