Jasper County Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Multi-Agency Manhunt

Elton Clinton Atkins of Summerville was apprehended following a bank robbery at the TD Bank in Jasper County, Bluffton. The suspect initially fled on a bicycle but later switched to a small white SUV, which was tracked by police and led to his arrest during a high-risk traffic stop in the Charleston area by North Charleston Police. Atkins is currently held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending transport back to Jasper County. The incident prompted a lockdown at the nearby University of South Carolina Beaufort Bluffton campus, and multiple law enforcement agencies including the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Hardeeville Police, FBI, SLED, and others were involved in the investigation. Details about the amount stolen and specific charges are still pending as the investigation continues.
