UNC School of the Arts Alumni Nominated for Tony Awards
Four alumni from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), including recent Oscar-winner Paul Tazewell, have been nominated for Tony Awards this year, reflecting the school's strong influence on Broadway. Tazewell, nominated for Best Costume Design of a Musical for 'Death Becomes Her,' will also serve as the commencement speaker at UNCSA. Other UNCSA nominees include Orin Wolf, producer of 'Buena Vista Social Club,' Camille A. Brown for Best Choreography on 'Gypsy,' and Holly Pierson for Best Costume Design of a Play for 'Oh, Mary!' The Tony Awards ceremony will be held on June 8. UNCSA's chancellor highlighted the recognition as a testament to the dedication and creativity fostered at the institution. The nominations underscore the significant contributions UNCSA alumni continue to make in the performing arts.
