Musk’s Grokipedia Launch Raises Bias Concerns

Elon Musk’s xAI launched Grokipedia on Oct. 27, 2025, an AI-powered, self-described “truth-seeking” encyclopedia powered by the Grok chatbot. The site auto-generated roughly 800,000–885,000 entries at launch, briefly crashed under heavy traffic, and allows users to request additions or edits that Grok will accept, deny or explain rather than permitting direct page edits. Grokipedia centralizes authorship, moderation and fact-checking inside Grok, repurposes some Wikipedia content under Creative Commons, and does not match Wikipedia’s in-line sourcing practices.
