In many cases, initial appeals are rejected even when drivers provide evidence, such as photos of their tickets showing incorrect registrations. Campaigners, including Lynda Eagan who runs a support group with tens of thousands of members, argue this is a widespread problem, with some calling the system 'a totally filthy business.' Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has acknowledged the issue, labeling it as something that 'needs to be tackled,' while the RAC is urging the government to reintroduce a code of conduct for private parking firms.
