Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon Steps Down After Eight Years

Alex Mahon will step down as CEO of Channel 4 this summer after nearly eight years leading the British public service broadcaster. During her tenure, Mahon secured Channel 4’s public ownership through two privatization attempts and oversaw its transformation into a digital-first public service streamer, driving strong digital growth and creating one of the UK's largest social media brands. She expanded Channel 4’s operations across the UK, championed young people against misinformation, and introduced industry-leading workplace policies on women's health and disability representation. Under her leadership, Channel 4 delivered landmark programming and film contributions, including acclaimed shows and impactful coverage of the Paralympic Games. Channel 4’s Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Allan, will serve as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor. Mahon leaves the organization strengthened and well-positioned for the future with its ongoing 'Fast Forward' strategy.
