Rawal Injured, India-Bangladesh Match Abandoned
India opener Pratika Rawal twisted her right ankle and sustained a knee concern, the BCCI said, while fielding at deep midwicket in the 21st over of the rain-affected India vs Bangladesh match at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Reports say her foot may have caught on the wet/uncovered outfield, causing a freak twist; medical staff attended and she walked off with assistance while a stretcher stood by. Rawal did not open the chase; Amanjot Kaur replaced her alongside Smriti Mandhana and Arundhati Reddy appeared as a substitute. The match was reduced to a 27-over contest and was ultimately abandoned due to persistent rain. The BCCI said its medical team is closely monitoring Rawal and her availability for the World Cup semi-final against Australia on Oct. 30 will be decided after assessment. Rawal has scored 308 runs in the tournament, including a 122 against New Zealand, and her proven opening partnership with Smriti Mandhana makes any potential absence a significant blow.
