Woman Arrested After Fatal DUI Crash in Mission Viejo

A tragic head-on collision occurred in Mission Viejo early on New Year's Day, resulting in the death of a woman in her 60s. The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Marguerite Parkway and Pueblonuevo Drive, where a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 26-year-old Geraldine Caicedo-Perez, reportedly traveled the wrong way and collided with a Toyota Camry. The victim was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, while Caicedo-Perez and a passenger were also hospitalized with injuries. Caicedo-Perez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter and booked into the Orange County Jail. Authorities are withholding the victim's identity until her family is notified and are seeking additional information about the incident from the public.
