Fourteen Children Arrested After Fatal Gateshead Fire
Fourteen children, aged 11 to 14, have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of 14-year-old Layton Carr in a fire at Fairfield Industrial Park in Gateshead. The fire occurred on Friday evening, and emergency services responded promptly to extinguish the blaze. Layton, who had been reported missing earlier, was found deceased inside the building after the fire was put out. The arrested group consists of eleven boys and three girls, all of whom remain in police custody as inquiries are at an early stage. Authorities have urged the public not to speculate on the incident and have placed a cordon at the scene while investigations continue. Layton's family is being supported by specialist officers, and police have requested privacy for them during this difficult time.
