Sora Tops Charts, Adds Android, Cameos, Editing

OpenAI’s AI video app Sora has gone viral since launch and topped App Store charts, building on Sora 2’s fidelity and native-audio improvements, and the company says multiple updates are arriving soon. Sora lead Bill Peebles announced character “cameos” that let users animate pets, stuffed toys and user‑created characters, plus a generation UI that highlights trending cameos in real time. The app will gain basic in‑app video editing for stitching multiple clips now, with more powerful editing tools planned later, and will add social “channels” for smaller communities and more personalized feeds. OpenAI also plans performance improvements and a reduction in what it calls excessive moderation, and an Android version is coming soon with Google Play pre‑registration open though no firm release date has been set.
