National Geographic Releases Trailer for Sally Ride Documentary Premiering June 16

National Geographic Documentary Films will premiere 'Sally,' a documentary honoring Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, on June 16, with streaming available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu. Directed by Emmy winner Cristina Costantini, the film explores both Ride's groundbreaking space achievements and her private, decades-long relationship with Tam O’Shaughnessy, which remained secret until after Ride's death. The documentary features interviews with Ride’s family, friends, and fellow astronauts, including Billie Jean King and members of NASA’s 1978 astronaut class. 'Sally' received critical acclaim after its Sundance premiere, winning the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize, and continues to screen at festivals worldwide. The film aims to celebrate Ride’s legacy as a trailblazer in a male-dominated field while shedding light on her personal life and the challenges she faced. Its release is timed to coincide with the anniversary of Ride's historic 1983 spaceflight.
