Cyber Incident Disrupts DuPage County Government Services

Several DuPage County government offices, including the Sheriff's Office, the 18th Judicial Circuit Court, and the Circuit Court Clerk's Office, were impacted by a ransomware attack early Monday morning, resulting in significant computer outages. The incident began around 2:30 a.m. and is under investigation, with the FBI and Secret Service notified. Despite the cyber incident, in-person court operations continued with minimal disruption, and jail operations and public safety were not affected. However, chancery sales, such as foreclosures, in the sheriff’s office were canceled for the week. Officials have not disclosed the exact nature of the attack or identified any outside actors involved. All other county operations remained unaffected by the outage.
