Two Pedestrians Hospitalized Following El Cajon Vehicle Collision

Two pedestrians, a 33-year-old man riding a BMX-style bicycle without lights and a 31-year-old woman walking beside him, were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing mid-block on North Second Street between Peach Avenue and Broadway in El Cajon on Tuesday night. The collision occurred when a 20-year-old driver, traveling north, hit the pair, causing them to land on the vehicle’s windshield. The man suffered facial fractures and internal brain bleeding and is in critical but stable condition, while the woman sustained a broken collarbone and abrasions; both were transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Police reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators, and that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The El Cajon Police Department has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
