Toddler Killed, Mother and Child Injured in Head-On Taunton Crash

A head‑on crash on Broadway/Route 138 in Taunton around 7:10 p.m. Saturday involving a blue Toyota RAV4 and a white Chevy van killed a nearly 2‑year‑old girl and hospitalized her mother and 5‑year‑old sister. The RAV4, driven by a 25‑year‑old woman, appeared to have collided with the van, which was found centered in the northbound lane and occupied by four adult men who were uninjured, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said. The toddler was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital; the mother was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition and the older child was transported to an out‑of‑state trauma center and listed as stable. Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County DA’s office and the Taunton Police Department are conducting an active investigation, and authorities have not released additional details or indicated whether charges will be filed.
