Texas Christian University (TCU) faced criticism after reportedly denying a request by its Turning Point USA chapter to host an event featuring detransitioner Chloe Cole, who opposes gender-affirming care. TCU officials clarified that the event was never officially booked due to the requested space being occupied with another student event and cited the short notice as a factor, offering to explore alternative dates or venues. Despite this, Cole and supporters, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Congressman Chip Roy, condemned the university's actions as censorship and an attack on free speech, with Roy demanding answers in a formal letter. Cole's event has since been moved off campus to Birchman Baptist Church. The controversy has sparked wider debate about free speech on college campuses and the administrative hurdles faced by conservative or Christian viewpoints. TCU emphasized that no event cancellation occurred since the event was never formally scheduled on campus.
