Docs Allege Hamas Coordinated With Al Jazeera
Documents recovered in Gaza and released by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center allege that Hamas coordinated closely with Qatari-funded Al Jazeera, directing terminology and story selection to protect “the image of the resistance” and asking the network to avoid calling certain strikes “massacres.” The files reportedly describe attempts to establish a secure “Al-Jazeera phone” linking Hamas command with Al Jazeera’s Doha newsroom for real-time instructions and embargoes, and say the network’s coverage frequently mirrored Hamas language. Reporting also alleges some Al Jazeera reporters cooperated with Hamas’s military wing, that the network received unusual access to Hamas tunnel systems, and that at least one named journalist was allegedly an active fighter. Separately, the Palestinian Authority says Hamas is reasserting control across Gaza during the cease-fire by using schools, hospitals and shelters as bases, summoning opponents and aid staff for interrogation, and imposing taxes on imports. Mosab Hassan Yousef warned these moves are part of a long-term strategy to embed militants in civilian institutions and build transnational networks, and President Trump warned regional allies are prepared to deploy troops to Gaza if Hamas does not relinquish weapons and power.
