Plans for new active travel routes across Scotland, Northamptonshire announced
Plans are underway for the Coalburn to National Cycle Network Route 74 (NCN74) Active Travel Path in South Lanarkshire, aimed at promoting active travel by linking Coalburn and Lesmahagow. Funded by OnPath Energy and other sources, the project will transform a disused railway line into a corridor for walkers, cyclists, and mobility users. Aileen McCreadie of OnPath Energy emphasized the project's role in supporting sustainability and community connectivity. Meanwhile, West Northamptonshire Council has unveiled a 10-year plan to enhance walking and cycling infrastructure across several towns, prioritizing routes based on public consultation. Additionally, Glasgow's Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove project aims to improve public spaces and encourage active travel, with plans for pedestrianized areas and reduced vehicle access. Feedback from residents is being sought to finalize these proposals.
