Jaden Crowner Receives Life Sentence for Second Murder in Maryland

Jaden Crowner, a 21-year-old from Brooklyn, was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting Walters Elangwe during a staged smartphone sale in Annapolis in July 2020. This sentence will be served consecutively to a prior life sentence (with all but 50 years suspended) for Crowner's 2022 conviction in the murder of Devin Freeman, whom he lured under the pretense of a marijuana deal. Evidence linking Crowner to the Elangwe case included eyewitness accounts, cellphone records, and surveillance footage. In both cases, Crowner was found to have orchestrated the meetings under false pretenses, leading to fatal shootings.
