Megaliter Varunaa Raises ₹15 Crore Seed Funding to Expand Urban Water Reuse
Hyderabad-based startup Megaliter Varunaa, a subsidiary of Banka BioLoo Limited and mentored by Brigade REAP, has raised ₹15 crore in seed capital from long-term institutional investors to scale its urban water management solutions. The company specializes in transforming sewage treatment plants into productive circular water utilities through its zero-capex, subscription-based Megaliter Model, which maximizes wastewater reuse and reduces freshwater dependency. Managing Director Vishal Murarka stated that the startup has treated over 3 billion liters of wastewater to date and plans to recycle more than 10 billion liters annually within the next year, significantly enhancing water resilience in Indian cities. The funding will accelerate technology innovation, project development, and expand Megaliter Varunaa's impact across major metros like Mumbai and Bengaluru. Brigade REAP's mentorship supports the startup's go-to-market strategies and aligns its innovations with real-world urban challenges, emphasizing sustainability and climate resilience. Additionally, the company is developing a "water credits" initiative to incentivize industries and urban developers to increase water recycling, fostering investment and aiding India's transition towards sustainable urban water systems.
