Nintendo Launches Switch 2 Upgrade Tool for Users

Nintendo has released a major system update (version 20.0.0) for the Switch, streamlining the process for users to upgrade to the upcoming Switch 2 console. The update introduces a system transfer tool that allows users to move data—including save files, user profiles, screenshots, and settings—to the Switch 2 either locally or via the cloud, and it automatically wipes the old device for resale or donation. Additionally, Nintendo has added Virtual Game Card and Game Share features, enabling digital game library sharing within family groups and local multiplayer access to compatible games, though some of these features require ownership of the Switch 2 to fully function.
