Uber Expands AV Partnerships With May Mobility, Momenta

Uber has announced a multi-year partnership with May Mobility to deploy thousands of autonomous, hybrid-electric Toyota Sienna vehicles on its ride-hailing platform, beginning in Arlington, Texas, by late 2025, with further expansion to additional U.S. markets in 2026. The vehicles will initially operate with safety drivers before transitioning to fully driverless service using May Mobility's Multi-Policy Decision Making technology. In parallel, Uber is partnering with China's Momenta Technology to introduce robotaxis in markets outside the U.S. and China, with the first launches planned in Europe in 2026 and safety operators present during early rollouts. Uber's growing roster of AV collaborators also includes Waymo, WeRide, Avride, and Volkswagen, as it aims to accelerate the commercialization of self-driving technology. May Mobility is backed by Toyota and BMW, and both companies maintain non-exclusive partnerships in the AV space. Despite these initiatives, industry analysts highlight ongoing engineering and regulatory challenges for widespread adoption of autonomous ride-hailing.
