Mets Promote Waddell Amid Bullpen Injuries

The New York Mets have called up left-hander Brandon Waddell from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as a bulk reliever after opener Huascar Brazobán in Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, marking Waddell's first MLB appearance since 2021. Waddell has posted a 1.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 21:7 K:BB ratio over 23.1 innings in five Triple-A starts. The Mets' decision is part of a strategy to give top starter Kodai Senga an extra day of rest.
