Fox Sports Plans Record 69 Live Matches for 2026 World Cup
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will be the largest ever with 48 teams and 104 matches, marking a significant expansion from the previous 32-team format. Fox Sports will broadcast all matches live, with a record 69 games airing on its Fox broadcast network and 35 on FS1, more than doubling its previous World Cup coverage and representing about two-thirds of the tournament's broadcast television matches. Every match will also be available for live streaming on Fox One and the Fox Sports app, offering over 340 hours of first-run programming, including extensive pre- and post-match content. This extensive coverage represents the biggest production in Fox Sports' 32-year history as the exclusive English-language U.S. broadcaster of the World Cup. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with a full broadcast schedule to be announced after the World Cup draw on December 5. Fox's increased summer coverage positions it to dominate domestic sports viewership during this period, benefiting from less competition and favorable time zones for American audiences.
