Measure RR Funds New Football Fields at Garfield, Roosevelt High Schools

Garfield and Roosevelt high schools in Los Angeles are set to reopen their upgraded football fields for the upcoming season on August 28, featuring new scoreboards, improved lighting, and enhanced accessibility among other improvements. Funded primarily by the $7 billion Measure RR bond measure passed in 2020, these renovations also include natural and synthetic playing surfaces, updated concession stands, new bleachers, and irrigation system upgrades to support student wellness and community engagement. Roosevelt High, located in Boyle Heights, boasts new metal bleachers, ADA accessibility upgrades, and a new synthetic track surrounding the natural grass field, while Garfield High in East L.A. features a synthetic football field, a digital scoreboard, and a new booster pump for irrigation. These improvements are designed to enhance the experience for athletes and fans alike, marking a significant investment in school sports infrastructure in the area.
