Luthor, Superman Team Up in Man of Tomorrow

Man of Tomorrow is the announced follow-up to James Gunn’s 2025 Superman and is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027; Gunn describes it as a sequel but not a direct one. He says the film will pair Superman and his nemesis Lex Luthor as uneasy allies to confront a much larger threat. Fans have speculated that Brainiac is the antagonist after Gunn posted a script cover featuring a bisected brain/x-ray, though Gunn stopped short of confirming the villain. Gunn revealed on the Superman 4K commentary that Angela Spica/The Engineer — whose fate was left ambiguous — will return in Man of Tomorrow. Principal photography is expected to begin around April 2026, and Gunn is keeping additional plot details and possible ties to projects like Peacemaker Season 2 under wraps.
