Hartford Shooting Kills Two; Victims Identified

A fatal early-morning shooting occurred just after 5:00–5:10 a.m. Sunday at a multi‑family/two‑family home on Franklin Avenue in Hartford, where officers found two people shot in the rear stairwell. The victims were identified by the Courant as 33‑year‑old Cynthia Jiminez‑Pacheco and 33‑year‑old Joel Martinez; Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene and Jiminez‑Pacheco was taken to Hartford Hospital and later pronounced dead. Police believe the pair were in a domestic relationship and say there is no known threat to the public at this time. Franklin Avenue and the surrounding area have been closed while the Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions investigate.
