Suspect in Police Chase in Anaheim Arrested After Crash, Shots Fired

A police pursuit involving a possibly armed suspect accused of assault with a deadly weapon against a big rig unfolded Wednesday night in the Anaheim area, starting on the Riverside (91) Freeway and continuing onto local streets. The suspect drove erratically, discarding an object from the vehicle and narrowly avoiding other cars as officers attempted multiple PIT maneuvers to stop the pickup truck. The chase concluded near West Memory Lane and The City Drive South after a successful PIT maneuver and crash. At the end of the pursuit, officers fired shots toward the suspect's vehicle. One passenger was taken into custody, and the driver was pulled from the vehicle and treated by medics, though the extent of injuries was not immediately known.
