76ers' Paul George Out Season Opener vs Celtics Due Knee Injury
The Philadelphia 76ers are starting the 2025-26 NBA season in a stronger position than last year, with Joel Embiid healthy and ready to play in the opener against the Boston Celtics. However, Paul George, recovering from offseason left knee surgery, has been officially ruled out for the season opener and is considered day-to-day, with expectations that he will return early in the season. George missed a significant portion of last season due to knee injuries, limiting his impact as the 76ers struggled to a 24-58 record. Alongside George, guard Jared McCain will also miss the opener due to a thumb injury, but the overall team health and culture outlook are much improved. Head coach Nick Nurse has expressed a desire to change the disappointing results from last season, and the team remains hopeful that George's recovery will allow him to contribute soon. The 76ers' fans can be encouraged by Embiid and Maxey's availability for the opener and the positive progress in George's rehab.
