Dog Rescued After Days Trapped in Well in Texas

In Longview, Texas, a man’s attentive hearing led to the rescue of a basset hound mix trapped in a 12-foot-deep well beneath his rental home. After hearing faint barking for several days, he discovered the source was an abandoned well he was unaware of. Animal control responded on February 24, and a team of eight rescuers worked for three hours to safely lift the dog out using makeshift slings. The dog, named Timmy after the character from 'Lassie,' was found to be largely unharmed despite his ordeal, aside from minor injuries. Following his rescue, Timmy was taken to a local shelter and quickly adopted by a Dallas resident. The well was subsequently filled in to prevent future incidents.
