Canton Mother,Daughter Charged Murder Man's Beating Death

Yolanda R. Lowery, 54, and her mother, Dorothy Lowery, 70, were arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of Jerry L. Morris, 54, whose body was found in Akron on August 1. Investigations by Canton and Akron police determined the homicide actually occurred in Canton, where the incident took place on Logan Avenue NW. According to police and the medical examiner, Morris died from multiple blunt force injuries and homicide was ruled the cause of death. The mother is accused of putting Morris in a chokehold while Yolanda Lowery allegedly struck him numerous times. Previous misdemeanor assault charges related to the same incident were dismissed to allow further investigation after Morris's death. Both women were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and are held at Stark County Jail, with the investigation ongoing and authorities seeking additional information from the public.
