European Leaders Press for Ukraine Ceasefire in Kyiv

Leaders from Britain, France, Germany, and Poland visited Kyiv to show solidarity with Ukraine and to advocate for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, a move also supported by the U.S. and President Trump. The summit with President Zelensky coincided with Russia's Victory Day celebrations and followed warnings from the U.S. of a possible significant air attack on Ukraine. If Russia rejects the ceasefire proposal, the U.S. and European countries are expected to introduce new coordinated sanctions. The leaders reiterated support for Ukraine's sovereignty and expressed readiness to escalate pressure on Russia until a peace agreement is achieved. Military officers from 30 countries are reportedly preparing plans for a coalition peacekeeping force should a ceasefire be agreed. Despite Russia's declared temporary ceasefire for wartime commemorations, fighting in Ukraine continues.
