A24 to Finance and Distribute 'The Riders'

Brad Pitt will star as Fred Scully in 'The Riders,' an adaptation of Tim Winton's Booker Prize-shortlisted novel, directed by Oscar-nominated Edward Berger. The film follows Scully as he searches across Europe for his wife after she vanishes, leaving only their daughter to arrive in Ireland. David Kajganich is adapting the screenplay. A24 will both finance and distribute the film, partnering with Ridley Scott's Scott Free, Berger’s Nine Hours, and Pitt’s Plan B for production. The project, long in development, gained momentum after Pitt joined, with A24 winning the rights in a competitive bidding process. Filming is set to begin in early 2026 at various European locations.
