Paramount+ Orders Kidman-Fanning Thriller Discretion

Paramount+ has given a straight-to-series order to Discretion, an eight-episode legal thriller from A24 starring and executive produced by Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning. The series is adapted from an unpublished short story by Chandler Baker, who will write and executive produce. Set in Dallas, the story follows Lenny, a summer associate who uncovers a web of nondisclosure agreements hiding a dark truth and finds herself pitted against Sharon, the firm’s most powerful partner. The pickup — won after a reported bidding war — is being positioned as a major early greenlight under Paramount+’s new leadership including Cindy Holland and head of originals Jane Wiseman. Executive producers attached include Susannah Grant and producers from Blossom Films, Lewellen Pictures, Linden Entertainment and A24’s Cut To. Trade reports differ on production timing, with most outlets saying production will begin next year while one report places production in 2026.
