Two Marines Killed, One Critical in Vehicle Crash Near US-Mexico Border
Two Marines, Lance Cpl. Albert A. Aguilera and Lance Cpl. Marcelino M. Gamino, were killed in a vehicle rollover accident during a convoy operation near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, while supporting Joint Task Force Southern Border operations. The Marines, both combat engineers with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, were part of a mission to bolster border security as ordered by the Trump administration. A third Marine from the same battalion remains in critical condition following the crash, which occurred as their vehicle reportedly swerved off the road and rolled into a ditch. The accident is under investigation, and military officials have emphasized their commitment to supporting the families and fellow Marines affected by this loss. Gamino and Aguilera, both from California, had recently been promoted and were recognized for their service, with Gamino having deployed to Australia. The incident highlights the dangers faced by military personnel deployed along the U.S.-Mexico border.
