Jaguars Sign Emmanuel Ogbah to Boost Defensive Line

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, addressing their need for depth at the position after not significantly bolstering the defensive line in the recent NFL Draft. Ogbah brings substantial experience, having accumulated 47.5 sacks over his career with the Browns, Chiefs, and Dolphins, and posted 33 pressures and six sacks in 2024. His addition is expected to provide valuable rotational support behind starters Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker, potentially allowing the team to move Arik Armstead back to his natural tackle position. General manager James Gladstone emphasized the team’s strategy of not reaching for perceived needs during the draft, opting instead to add proven talent like Ogbah through free agency. Ogbah's familiarity with defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, from their overlapping time in Miami, could further ease his transition into the Jaguars’ defense.
