One Dead, Four Displaced After Southeast Las Vegas Apartment Fire

An apartment fire at the Casa Vegas Condos on the 1400 block of Vegas Valley Drive in central Las Vegas on Saturday evening killed an elderly woman who was found inside a second-floor unit after crews arrived just after 7 p.m.; firefighters declared knockdown around 7:10 p.m. Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded with 39 personnel (including six engines), conducted a primary search, and confirmed the single fatality with no other injuries reported. The American Red Cross and Clark County Animal Control were called to assist four displaced residents and one dog, and RTC closed nearby lanes while responders secured the scene. Damage is estimated at roughly $50,000, and Clark County Fire arson investigators and LVMPD remain on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
