Sundance Honors Late Founder Robert Redford in Farewell
The 2026 Sundance Film Festival (Jan. 22–Feb. 1) will be the festival’s final edition in Park City, marking a 40-year celebration of its legacy and its late founder, Robert Redford, who died Sept. 16. Organizers unveiled a Park City Legacy Program (Jan. 27–30) of archival and digitally restored screenings, artist talks and a public farewell event on Jan. 30. The program includes restorations such as Downhill Racer and Little Miss Sunshine and a 4K-supervised restoration of Saw, for which director James Wan is expected to attend. Festival director Eugene Hernandez and programmer John Nein framed the program as a reflection of Redford’s vision and Sundance’s role in nurturing independent filmmakers. In-person and online festival packages go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. MT, with single tickets available beginning Jan. 14; the festival will relocate to Boulder, Colorado in 2027.
