A64 York Reopens After Fatal Van-Lorry Crash

A serious collision involving a van and an HGV led to the closure of a major stretch of the A64 near York, causing significant traffic disruptions. The van reportedly collided with the rear of the parked HGV, and tragically, the van driver died at the scene. Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance, responded promptly, and diversions were put in place to manage traffic while the incident was handled. The closure initially affected the road between the A19 junction westbound and the A1036 junction eastbound, with the eastbound closure extended to the A1237 to facilitate strategic diversions. The westbound carriageway later reopened, and the road was eventually reopened in both directions. In a separate incident, a crash involving three vehicles, including an Arriva bus, blocked the westbound carriageway of the A66 near Middlesbrough, leading to traffic standstills as emergency services attended the scene.
