Channel 5 to Air 23 Matches of FIFA Club World Cup in UK

Channel 5 will broadcast 23 of the 63 matches from this summer's expanded FIFA Club World Cup, including key fixtures such as the final, under a new sublicensing agreement with DAZN, the tournament's global rights holder. The remaining 40 matches will be available exclusively via DAZN, which has also committed to making every game free-to-air on its app worldwide. The tournament, running from June 14 to July 13 in the United States, features 32 top club teams from around the world, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Inter Miami. The arrangement marks one of Channel 5's most significant sports acquisitions to date and reflects the broadcaster's ambition to expand its sports coverage. The DAZN rights deal, reportedly valued at $1 billion and funded in part by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, followed FIFA's challenges in securing broadcasters for the event. The partnership is expected to bring unprecedented free-to-air access to UK viewers for one of the summer's major sporting events.
