Ozempic Drug Shows Potential Anti-Aging Benefits

Recent studies suggest that the anti-obesity drug Ozempic (semaglutide) may not only aid weight loss but also slow down aging and improve overall health, with potential benefits extending to cardiovascular health and reducing mortality rates. Research from the Select trial, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Conference 2024, indicated that participants taking semaglutide experienced a lower risk of death from all causes—including cardiovascular diseases and Covid-19—compared to those on a placebo. Professor Harlan Krumholz from Yale School of Medicine remarked that improving cardiometabolic health through this medication could enhance longevity and overall well-being, likening its effects to a 'fountain of youth.' Additionally, Ozempic has been shown to reduce inflammation independently of weight loss, which could mitigate risks associated with various diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s.
