Fiorentina Confirm Tariq Lamptey Signing from Brighton

Serie A club Fiorentina has confirmed the signing of Ghanaian right-back Tariq Lamptey from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal reportedly worth around €6 million plus add-ons. Lamptey, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has made just 15 appearances last term, is expected to serve primarily as a backup to Brazilian defender Dodo. The 24-year-old will sign a four-year contract with Fiorentina ahead of the transfer deadline, with the club indicating that their squad is nearly complete following his arrival. Brighton is continuing to trim its squad, also loaning out Jeremy Sarmiento to Cremonese with an obligation to buy. Despite his injury setbacks, Lamptey has been named in Ghana's squad for upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, highlighting his ongoing international importance. Fiorentina’s director general has denied interest in other midfield targets like Dani Ceballos and confirmed defender Pietro Comuzzo will remain with the club.
