Apple Delays Siri AI Features Amid Alexa Competition

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the release of AI-powered personalized Siri features, originally expected in iOS 18.4 after their WWDC 2024 unveiling, has been postponed with no firm timeline. While most sources anticipate these enhancements—including personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper app integration—will arrive during the iOS 19 cycle, possibly as late as iOS 19.4 in spring 2026, some reports suggest a limited rollout could occur as early as this fall. The delay occurs amid increasing competition from Amazon, whose Alexa+ AI assistant now offers generative AI features. Apple has restructured its Siri leadership team to speed up development and continues to release other Apple Intelligence features.
