Minah Shannon joins BBC Radio 1 as presenter

Minah Shannon, a fan favorite from the third season of The Traitors UK, will co-host BBC Radio 1's Friday Early Breakfast show alongside Nat O'Leary throughout May, with the pair set to present a special live show from Liverpool on May 23 to kick off the Radio 1 Big Weekend 2025 celebrations. Shannon expressed her excitement about the new role and emphasized the chemistry with O'Leary, noting their shared university background and hopes to bring laughter to listeners. O'Leary echoed this enthusiasm, praising Shannon's energy and promising fun-filled Friday mornings. In June, rising radio talent Lauren Redfern will take over the slot, building on her previous experience with Radio 1 Anthems. Head of Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones, described the Friday Early Breakfast slot as a crucial platform for emerging presenters to connect with audiences and welcomed this new wave of talent. The changes are part of an ongoing shake-up of Radio 1 presenters, following recent notable shifts within the station's lineup.
