Two Louvre Heist Suspects Face Charges as €88 Million Jewelry Remains Missing
Two men have been arrested and are set to be charged with organized theft and criminal conspiracy in connection with the October 19 jewel heist at France's Louvre Museum, where thieves used a cherry-picker truck and cutting tools to steal jewelry valued at approximately $102 million. The suspects, both known to police and residents of the Paris region, partially confessed to the charges and were apprehended after investigations involving DNA samples collected from a scooter used in the heist and a window at the museum. One suspect was caught at Charles de Gaulle Airport attempting to leave the country, while the other, a taxi driver with prior convictions, was arrested near his home. Authorities continue to search for at least two more accomplices, though current evidence has not confirmed additional suspects. The stolen jewels remain unrecovered, but investigators remain hopeful of their recovery. The suspects face potential sentences of up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
