Ford recalls over 1.4 million vehicles for seat belt corrosion, rearview camera defects
Ford is recalling over 1.4 million vehicles, including popular models such as the Mustang, Super Duty pickups, Escape, and Lincoln vehicles, due to safety defects involving seat belt corrosion and faulty rearview camera systems. The recall affecting approximately 332,778 Mustangs from 2015 to 2017 addresses corroded front seat belt pretensioner cables, particularly in regions using road salt, which may compromise passenger restraint during crashes. Additionally, roughly 1.4 million vehicles, including various 2015–2022 models, are recalled due to rearview cameras that may display distorted, intermittent, or blank images under certain lighting conditions, increasing crash risk when reversing. Ford will inspect and replace faulty components free of charge, with owner notification letters sent starting October and a final remedy expected by mid-2026. The company has stated it is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to these defects but is proactively addressing the issues to enhance vehicle safety. These recalls follow investigations prompted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and reflect Ford's ongoing efforts to resolve safety concerns in vehicles built between 2015 and 2025.
